used the ebook

This turned out to be another book that I didn’t read all the way through because, even though I liked the topic, it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for for this project. After I read the intro, I did a search for the words “bored” and “boring” and found this line in reference to New York’s Auburn Prison: “the pedagogy of prison was thus both implicit and explicit: they were removed from society, cast out, and forced to endure a cruel combination of boredom, isolation, corporeal punishment, occasional public display, and forced labor” (99).
