After terrorizing women for decades, film producer Harvey Weinstein (age 67) has been sentenced to 23 years in prison. Weinstein arrived to court this morning in a wheelchair (days after an alleged fall in Rikers Island and a week after a heart procedure) where he was convicted of third-degree rape and a first-degree criminal sex act.
The New York Times published the first official story citing allegations against him in October 2017. More accusations built up from there until over ninety women accused him of different levels of sexual misconduct and rape. Weinstein maintained his innocence, claiming these situations were all consensual. He says he “had a wonderful time” with two of the women testifying against him and denies having any power to sexual coerce anyone.
Weinstein still faces similar charges in California and will soon face trial there too.
