Antwoin Gutierrez (age 33) started selling drugs at 16 in Peekskill, NY. He went to prison three times, two for drugs and one for a robbery.
When he got out in 2011, he joined the Doe Fund, a non-profit organization for ex-convicts, and spent a lot of time with the head of food-services. When they started doing baking, he realized that it wasn’t much different from cooking crack. He saw that he had a legitimate and transferable skill. He says, “something just clicked.”
From there, he spent a few years working in different hotels and bakeries, all while posting his baking creations on IG. He launched Fresh Taste Bakery in 2016 and sells about 500 baked goods a day. He’s located in NYC and can be found on IG @freshtastebakery.
