Candace Bushnell wrote Sex and the City the column (and the book). She is “Carrie.” With that project, she was a single woman in her 30’s. In this book, she’s in her 50’s and single again. Newly divorced, Bushnell is more secure in her friendships and day-to-day routines. She deals with death and dates a little and falls in love again in the middle of everything. She also considers some of cultural trends going on around her. Stuff like older women in relationships with younger men, an overpriced face cream that changes her worldview, and the state of dating in the time of tinder.
Best line: “I wonder if she’s disappointed with her life, the way I sometimes am.”
