MY ALCOHOLIC ESCAPE FROM REALITY by Nagata Kabi

I had to get this book because it’s about getting pancreatitis and I had pancreatitis as a teenager. She actually said the same thing as me–how could this be a possible diagnosis if I only just started drinking? Doctors say that it’s a situation where you’ve been drinking for 20 years or something. The only other person I know who had it said the same thing too. That wasn’t any of our three narratives–drinking for 20 years.

So I liked reading about that topic. I also generally love Nagata Kabi’s voice and drawings. It’s cool how she is kinda looking for the plot in this book. Like she’s regretting not taking more journal notes while she was in the hospital and near the end she’s musing about what the meaning of the book is supposed to be. My Alcoholic Escape From Reality is quick, fun story that feels a little messy but is still good.

  1. Wowzers! This post may have just saved my life in terms of pancreatitis… Ever since I’ve been inserted back into the workforce and not so much self-employeed, I’ve found myself drinking every night after work.

Damn, we need to talk. lol

    Thanks!!!
